Winn Dixie Celebrity Bagger for Habitat
ladywithgroceries On Saturday, March 22nd, Habitat for Humanity of Lee County partnered with Pine Island's Winn Dixie grocery store to raise money for the cause. Local celebrities bagged groceries for customers from 11am to 1pm. The local celebrities included Jim McLaughlin, Bob Elder, Annie Wentz, the Yard Dogs, Chief Dave Bradley, Robert Mazzoli (the Pine Island Elementary School Principal), Bob MaComber, WINK Traffic Reporter Miriam Zomorano, ABC-7 Traffic Reporter Kelly Imrick, ABC-7 Morning Anchor Eric Weisfeld and Pine Island's Hooker Madam Lisa Benton. The celebrities raised more than $1400 during the event! It was an effort not only to raise money but also awareness about what Habitat for Humanity is doing on Pine Island (the first Habitat home was finished on Pine Island in 2006). The second Habitat home on the Island was raised on Saturday, March 1st.
