In one last fundraising effort before the end of 2009, Chico’s employees raised $3,200 for Habitat for Humanity of Lee County. The clothing company paid for materials and recruited Renaissance Homes to build the whimsical, “Dr. Seuss” inspired house.

Viking Craftsman Companies built a second house for the non-profit fundraiser; Orange Grove Publix Supermarkets set the house up and helped sell tickets. A third house was funded by an anonymous donor and built by volunteers. The playhouse fundraiser brought in about $5,000 total for Habitat’s cause.

Each house stood approximately 4 feet by 6 feet and were raffled off to raise awareness to the number of children left homeless every year.
