Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties, Inc. built the first-of-its-kind 60-unit Senior Housing Complex. This complex helps meet the critical need of affordable housing for senior citizens in our community. While it is true that Habitat promotes homeownership, we could not ignore the needs of a growing senior population. This Senior Housing Complex offers families a safe, decent, affordable place to rent.

Senior Housing Tenant Requirements

Tenants will be selected or denied for tenancy based on their need for an affordable rental unit, their ability to pay rent every month, and their willingness to partner with Habitat. Please review the Tenant Selection Criteria very carefully.

  1. All applicants must submit a completed, dated and signed residency application.
  2. Applicant must provide proof of identification.
  3. Applicant must submit the application fee with application.
  4. Credit history and or Civil Court Records must not contain excessive slow pays, judgments, eviction filings, collections, liens or bankruptcy in the past three years.
  5. Criminal records must contain no convictions for felonies within the past 10 years and no sexual offenses ever. In the event “ adjudication is withheld” further documentation may be required, and applicant may be denied on this basis.
  6. Previous rental history reports from landlords must reflect timely payment, sufficient notice of intent to vacate, no complaint disturbances or illegal activities, no unpaid non-sufficient funds for checks, and no damage to unit or failure to leave the property clean without a lease termination.
  7. Applicants will be required to pay a security deposit at the time of lease execution in a minimum amount of one month’s rent. Habitat for Humanity reserves the right to require a higher security deposit and or additional prepaid rent.

Residency Requirements
Tenant must be either a U.S. citizen or have a permanent resident alien card.

Occupancy Requirements
Maximum of two (2) occupants are allowed per unit.

Age Requirements
Tenant must be at least 55 years of age or older.
No one under the age of 18 is permitted to live in the unit.

Income Requirements
All sources of income must be verifiable.
