“We are very excited about building again in Hendry County,” said Habitat CEO and President Katherine C. “Kitty” Green. Last year, Habitat rehabbed two existing houses in Hendry County. “We have plans to build two new homes in Port LaBelle during this fiscal year. Our success will depend heavily on the number of volunteers who dedicate themselves to the task of providing these homes for people in need so they may build better lives for their families.”
The success of Habitat’s plans in LaBelle and throughout Lee and Hendry counties also depends on funding through donations and home sponsorships. “Government funding has decreased dramatically in the last few years,” explains Green. “We are relying mainly on the generosity of individuals, organizations and companies to meet our funding needs.”
