Home Repair Program

Habitat for Humanity’s Home Repair Program assists income-eligible homeowners, ensuring they can address critical repairs and stay safe in their homes. This program is designed to alleviate health and safety concerns by addressing issues such as wear and tear, aging infrastructure, and damage from natural disasters. Repairs, including both interior and exterior work, are carried out by licensed contractors and overseen by our skilled construction team. By helping qualified homeowners with essential repairs, we strengthen neighborhoods and help families remain rooted in their communities.

Eligibility Requirements

Please be advised that this does not include all requirements for this program and it is subject to change at anytime at the direction of program administrators.

Property owner(s) must be listed as applicant or co-applicant.

Home must be the principal residence.

Household must meet income guidelines. These limits are based on the household income of all residents 18 years and older.

Property taxes must be current.

Mortgage payment must be current.

Application & Eligibility

Once we receive your Home Repair Program Contact Form, Habitat will review your submission and if you meet the basic eligibility criteria, we will email or mail you an application.

Assessment

After submitting your application and processing it for eligibility, a construction supervisor will be assigned to conduct an initial assessment of the home for those applicants who meet the criteria.

Home Repair Program Stories

For Fort Myers homeowner Eddie Mae, the memory of experiencing Hurricane Ian is still raw. The storm severely damaged her home’s interior and exterior, including the roof and soffit. Unable to afford the costly repairs, she turned to Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties. Now, thanks to Habitat’s Home Repair Program, her home is restored to a safe and whole condition.

Cape Coral homeowners Joe & Anna struggled with an old HVAC system that couldn’t keep their home cool during Florida’s scorching summers. With their quality of life affected, they turned to Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties for help. Now, thanks to Habitat’s Home Repair Program, they have a new HVAC system that keeps their home comfortable year-round.
