If you live in the MLK area of Fort Myers and have an open code violation, you may be eligible for the Home Preservation Program.

Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) are partnering to help homeowners resolve open code violations and complete eligible home maintenance projects.

Eligible projects include but are not limited to:

  • Landscaping.
  • Roof repairs or replacement.
  • Window repair.
  • Siding repair.
  • Fence repair.

Eligibility Requirements

The property must have at least one open code violation.

The home must be in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (MLK) area in Fort Myers.

The home must be the principal residence as evidenced by a Homestead Exemption.

Households must meet income guidelines. These limits are based on the income and assets of all residents in the household regardless of relationship and are adjusted annually.

All adult household members must pass a criminal background check. A criminal history does not automatically disqualify you from the program.

The home value may not exceed HUD’s maximum price of an existing home (LEEPA value).

Mortgage payment must be current.

Property taxes must be current.

All property owners must be included as an applicant or co-applicant.
