Dear friend of Habitat,
While many of us experience the joy and fulfillment the holiday season brings with loved ones, some in our community face instability and uncertainty. Unpredictable rent increases, overcrowded living conditions, damaged or dilapidated structures or lack of access to affordable financing mean some families will experience Christmas without the security they need.
Last year, Jorge, Itzel and their infant daughter Selena spent Christmas crammed into a small bedroom in a family member’s home. Though they cherished spending the holiday with loved ones, Jorge and Itzel felt they lacked the independence necessary for a young and growing family.
Due to rising interest rates and expensive down payment costs to secure a conventional mortgage, they turned to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties through our Affordable Homeownership Program.
This Christmas, Jorge and Itzel will be the ones hosting gatherings and sharing the joy of home with their family and friends. Your support of Habitat’s mission helps families like theirs take care of themselves and build their own futures because of a stable home.
This Giving Tuesday, supporting Habitat means giving an additional 68 families a hand-up to achieve their dream of homeownership. Every donation counts towards building affordable homes in our community.
On behalf of our Habitat community and empowered homeowners, I thank you for your support and wish you a blessed holiday season.
